Freedom from Shame

January 26, 2010 Leave a comment

To share one’s shame requires an incredible amount of trust.  To share one’s hurts requires taking the risk of deeper hurt. Opening oneself up to another can be amazingly difficult. But when, in the midst of such utter vulnerability, there is acceptance in place of condemnation, a deep connection is established. An appreciation is formed that bonds those who have opened themselves. There is an immersion of relief. It is something so profound, so supernatural, so divine. On the surface, it’s ugly, but frankly, I’ve never experienced anything so beautiful.
